Associate Professor Alberta Hoi works in Melbourne, as a rheumatologist in both public and private practices and a clinician-researcher at Monash University. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and completed her PhD in 2010. She is the head of Monash Lupus Clinic, consultant rheumatologist at Monash Health and Austin Health. She is also associate professor at Department of Medicine School of Clinical Sciences. Her research focusses around disease predictors and outcomes, registry design and implementation, quality of care and patient-centred interactions in systemic lupus erythematosus. She is the Chair of the Australian Lupus Registry & Biobank and executive member of the Asia Pacific Lupus Collaboration.

Dr Alberta Hoi has been an executive member of Australian Rheumatology Association Victoria branch, serving as treasurer between 2015-2020. She is also member of American College of Rheumatology, and British Society of Rheumatology.

As a practising rheumatologist she has extensive expertise in managing complex rheumatology patients with systemic inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Her approach is evidence-based and holistic in nature, thriving to deliver the best care for her patients. She has had extensive involvement with the training program of rheumatology and basic physician trainees and undergraduate students.
