Sjögren disease (SjD) is one of the most common systemic autoimmune diseases that often appears in middle-aged females. It occasions sicca symptoms, fatigue, joint pain and potentially devastating organ damage. There are several unmet needs for SjD in Australia, with a paucity of targeted therapeutic strategies, clinical trials and significant risks for the condition to be overlooked or misdiagnosed. As a commonly encountered condition amongst rheumatologists, we propose the establishment of the Sjögren SIG to promote education, research, clinical care and advocacy for people living with SjD.
Goals The proposed goals of the Sjögren SIG are:
Sjögren’s Australia
The Sjögren’s Disease SIG (SjDSIG) is pleased to announce the formation of Sjögren’s Australia – a patient-run advocacy group designed to promote awareness, education, support and research into SjD. Please consider referring your SjD patients to this valuable resource and/or supporting the group by donation or joining as a member.
